New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith was sucker punched by a teammate Tuesday, breaking his jaw.

IK Enemkpali — Smith’s now-former teammate after being cut by the Jets following the incident — released a statement through his agent apologizing to the organization.

I apologize to the Jets organization, coaches, teammates and fans. Geno and I let our frustration get the best of us, but I should have just walked away from the situation. I deeply regret and apologize for my actions. It was never my intention to harm anyone. I appreciate the opportunity I had with the Jets.

Interestingly enough, Enemkpali never apologized to Smith in the statement, just the Jets. We’re guessing he didn’t get that $600.
