BOSTON — Jackie Bradley Jr. made a bid Monday for what would have been the highlight of his ever-growing collection of eye-popping defensive plays.

In an attempt to rob Lonnie Chisenhall of a home run during the Boston Red Sox’s 8-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians, Bradley scaled the wall that separates right field at Fenway Park from the visitors’ bullpen and stood atop it for a moment before ultimately determining he had no play of the ball.

The play looks like a spur-of-the-moment decision on Bradley’s part, but as the young outfielder explained after the game, his actions actually were very calculated.

“I just kind of bounded onto the wall to see if I could get a better angle at it,” Bradley said. “And it was still out of my reach, so I just went on and jumped over.

“… I think it was the first opportunity I actually had to get back to the wall in time, get on top of it and take a look at it. Usually, balls that are hit toward that wall are either way too far or just hit on a line. That one had a little hangtime for me to get back there.”

This wasn’t Bradley’s first time trying the wall-climbing maneuver, however.

“I work on it during BP,” he said. “Just in case.”

We’re sure we’re not alone in hoping Bradley one day pulls it off.
