The Boston Red Sox have won three games in a row, and the last two were closed out by Junichi Tazawa.

Tazawa has been filling in for Koji Uehara at closer ever since he went down with a right wrist fracture. Tazawa had a 1.80 ERA and a .176 opponent’s batting average in his last five outings.

“Junichi Tazawa has really done a good job for the Red Sox filling in for Koji Uehara,” NESN’s Jerry Remy said on “Red Sox Gameday Live” before Boston hosted the Kansas City Royals on Friday. “You know, this is a guy who is a different type of closer because he has so many different pitches.”
