The Boston Red Sox are out a closer for the remainder of the 2015 season.

The team announced Monday that Koji Uehara would hit the disabled list for the rest of the year after being diagnosed with a non-displaced distal radius fracture in his right wrist. He’s expected to make a full recovery.

X-rays taken Friday came back negative, but Uehara underwent a CAT scan Sunday after swelling in his wrist went down. The 40-year-old sustained the injury on the final out of Friday’s 7-2 win over the Detroit Tigers when Ian Kinsler hit him in his throwing wrist with a line drive.

Uehara had been a bright spot in the Red Sox’s underperforming bullpen this season. The closer had a 2.23 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 40 1/3 innings, as well as 25 saves in 27 opportunities.
