Even the most hardcore of LeBron James haters can’t knock this move.

The Cleveland Cavaliers star announced Thursday that his LeBron James Family Foundation has partnered with the University of Akron to cover the cost of college tuition for more than 1,000 kids in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

The lucky kids are a part of the I Promise program, which James has sponsored for the past five years.

“I think it’s probably one of the best things I’ve ever been apart of,” James said Thursday, via ESPN.com. “This is very special to me. As a kid growing up in the inner city and as an African-American kid, you don’t really think past high school because it’s not possible or your family can’t support you. For us to be able to do something like this … it means so much.”

The University of Akron also announced it has renamed its College of Education after James’ foundation.

Say what you will about LeBron, but you can’t say he doesn’t give back.
