The Mail’s Martin Domin, The Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce and the editors of The Independent report Liverpool paid Internacional around £500,000 ($781,000) for Allan, whose fine performances for the Brazilian club at the Frenz International Cup earlier this year caught the attention of Liverpool’s scouts.

Allan practiced with Liverpool last week on a trial basis and showed enough quality to convince Liverpool to sign him. Allan appeared on the Reds’ bench Saturday in their preseason game against HJK Helsinki in Finland.

Allan never played for Internacional’s first team, and he likely will play for Liverpool’s academy team at the outset of his Anfield career. The presences of Allan’s compatriots, Lucas Leiva, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino likely will help the talented teenager adapt to life at Liverpool, and manager Brendan Rodgers will gauge his progress and try to integrate him into the Reds’ first team in 2015-16.
