A night after Henry Owens’ major league debut with the Boston Red Sox, Luis Severino is set to make his first start in the majors for the New York Yankees.

Severino has posted a 9-2 record and a 2.45 ERA in 19 minor league starts so far this season. So expectations are high for the 21-year-old righthander as he debuts at Yankee Stadium against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

“What’s happened out there with Pineda going down, they need help in the starting rotation,” NESN’s Dennis Eckersley said on “Red Sox Gameday Live” before Wednesday’s game. “So what is there, 10 starts left? He can give them six innings a start and he can take them until the end of the year.”
