Several big-name players switched teams this week in one of the most active deadlines in recent memory. The action started early and continued right up until the final minutes Friday, as teams across MLB were looking to get creative in order to improve, either for this season or beyond.

It’s difficult to judge trades mere hours after they’re consummated. After all, who knows what will come of the top prospects involved? Perhaps those players will blossom into stars down the road, leaving the teams that traded them away wondering why they didn’t just stand pat.

However, the deadline is a good time for knee-jerk reactions. And while some trades look beneficial to all involved, others appear to have clear-cut winners. So, it’s time to separate the good from the bad.
