NFL’s Court Filing Claims Wells Report’s ‘Independence’ Doesn’t Matter

The NFL and NFL Players Association filed their respective motions Friday night to U.S. District Judge Richard Berman to argue their respective cases for Tom Brady’s four-game suspension.

Both parties mostly retold their arguments, but the league seems to have changed its stance on whether the Wells Report was independent, or at least they’re now saying that fact doesn’t matter.

The NFL paid the Paul, Weiss firm $2.5 to $3 million to investigate Deflategate. Lawyers from Paul, Weiss then represented the NFL at Brady’s appeal.
