Pablo Sandoval Out For Red Sox; Josh Rutledge Starts In Finale Vs. Mariners

The Boston Red Sox are looking to continue their offensive hot streak, but they’ll have to do it without Pablo Sandoval.

Sandoval exited Saturday’s 22-10 rout of the Seattle Mariners before the fourth inning after taking a pitch off his elbow. X-rays taken at Fenway Park came back negative, but Sandoval is day-to-day and will sit out Sunday’s series finale. Josh Rutledge will start at second base and bat eighth as Brock Holt moves over to Sandoval’s post at third and bats second.

Rusney Castillo, who also was considered day-to-day after fouling a ball off his foot Saturday, is notably in the lineup Sunday. He’ll start in right field and bat fifth.

Henry Owens will make his Fenway Park debut on the mound for the Red Sox. The 23-year-old left-hander has enjoyed two pretty solid starts for Boston so far, winning one against the Detroit Tigers and taking a loss in his debut against the New York Yankees after having his lead spoiled by the bullpen. Owens walked four batters and struck out just two over five innings in his last outing against the Tigers, but he gave up just three hits and one earned run.

Here are both teams’ lineups for Sunday’s matchup.
