FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots had six players return to practice Monday after a brief break over the weekend, but they also saw a prospective starter go down.

Rookie offensive lineman Tre’ Jackson, who has been working with the first team at right guard, was carted off the field with what appeared to be a hip or lower back injury. He went down after individual drills and was seen stretching out his lower back on the ground. Trainers also were focusing on his right hip.

Linebackers Dekoda Watson and Eric Martin, running back James White, offensive linemen Nate Solder and Marcus Cannon, and cornerback Logan Ryan were back at practice after the Patriots had Sunday off. White, Watson and Ryan missed only one practice. Cornerback Tarell Brown also practiced after leaving the field midway through Saturday’s session.

Wide receivers Julian Edelman and Aaron Dobson, tight end Scott Chandler, running back Travaris Cadet, and offensive linemen Bryan Stork and Caylin Hauptmann practiced on a limited basis, working on conditioning as the team practiced.

Wide receiver Brandon LaFell; cornerback Darryl Roberts; linebacker Dane Fletcher; offensive lineman Ryan Wendell; defensive linemen Rufus Johnson, Joe Vellano, Chris Jones and Trey Flowers, and tight end Jake Bequette remained out of practice.

UPDATE (6:04 p.m. ET): Jackson left the field with full-body cramps, a source told the Providence Journal’s Mark Daniels.
