It appears Matt Flynn will play in the AFC East this season after all.

The New York Jets are set to sign the quarterback to a one-year deal just days after he was released by the New England Patriots, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Flynn signed with the Patriots on June 12 but was released on Aug. 10. He was dealing with a hamstring injury that wouldn’t fully heal, but the Jets apparently are willing to take a chance on the 30-year-old quarterback as the backup for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The Jets, of course, are in the market for another quarterback after starter Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw during a locker room fight. He is expected to miss six to 10 weeks.
