U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman just needs a night to sleep on his Deflategate decision. At least that’s what the lawyers for Tom Brady and the NFL reportedly believe.

ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, himself a former lawyer, reported via a source that the New England Patriots quarterback’s representatives and the league’s attorneys expect Berman to rule Tuesday on Brady’s four-game suspension appeal.

It’s not a huge surprise, since Berman said at Monday’s hearing in New York that he expected to rule Tuesday or Wednesday. Brady’s camp had requested that Berman make his decision by Friday, so the Patriots could prepare for their Sept. 10 season opener should their star quarterback remain suspended.

Brady, of course, doesn’t want to serve a suspension. The league disagrees. What Berman will rule is anyone’s guess right now.

Stay tuned.
