Emre Can’s decision to test himself in English soccer hasn’t stalled his international prospects.

Germany head coach Joachim “Jogi” Low will include Can in Germany’s squad for its upcoming 2016 UEFA European Championship qualifiers against Poland and Scotland, German newspaper Bild reported Thursday. Can starred for Germany’s U-21 national team this summer at the 2015 UEFA U-21 European Championship, and a selection in Low’s latest group will mark his first steps with his country’s senior national team.

Can, 21, plays his club soccer for Liverpool and is building a reputation for himself in England as well as his native Germany. Can joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in summer 2014 and needed less than a season to make himself an important component of the Reds’ midfield (and back line).

After following Can’s progress for years, Low apparently wants a closer look at the talented player, who soon might debut at the highest level.
