Daniel Nava is staying in the American League East.
The Tampa Rays claimed the outfielder off waivers Wednesday, CBSSports.com reported. Nava was on waivers after the Boston Red Sox designated him for assignment July 30.
The 32-year-old struggled mightily while battling injuries this season for the Red Sox. He appeared in just 29 games, hitting .152 with seven RBIs, a far cry from 2013, the best season of his career. Nava hit .303 with 12 home runs and 66 RBIs in 134 games for the Red Sox in 2013.
The Rays certainly saw plenty of Nava when he was with the Red Sox. Nava played in 49 games against Tampa Bay, only playing in more games versus the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays. Nava hit .194 with three home runs and 18 RBIs in those games.
