The NFL and NFL Players Association reportedly aren’t close to reaching a settlement on Tom Brady’s Deflategate suspension appeal.
Brady was in New York on Tuesday “for meetings related to his case,” a source told NFL Media’s Albert Breer. That explains why Brady was absent for New England Patriots training camp practice.
Brady is expected to rejoin the Patriots on Wednesday, however, “with settlement talks going nowhere,” sources told USA Today’s Tom Pelissero.
U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman informed Brady he doesn’t need to attend Wednesday’s voluntary federal court hearing since “settlement talks are at a standstill,” a source told Breer.
The Patriots are traveling to West Virginia on Tuesday for joint practices with the New Orleans Saints. Brady missed practice last Tuesday and Wednesday but still played in the Patriots’ Thursday night preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers.
