Rick Porcello Inching Closer To Return To Red Sox After DL Stint (Video)

It appears Rick Porcello is close to returning to the Boston Red Sox.

Porcello was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Aug. 2 with triceps soreness and inflammation after a rough first half of the season. He pitched 5 2/3 innings in a rehab stint for Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, and it appears a bullpen session is the next step.

“This is a guy who you invested a lot of money in, who has had some problems, a little bit of an injury there — ineffectiveness, no question about that,” NESN’s Steve Lyons said of Porcello on “Red Sox Final” after Boston’s 6-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals. He’s got to get back up here and get himself a few more starts before the season’s over to right the ship going into next year.”
