Do you hear that, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski? That’s your brother, Glenn Gronkowski, knocking on the NFL’s door.
Glenn is entering his junior year at Kansas State, but he already is getting asked about his chances at playing in the NFL.
However, he has one problem — he’s a fullback. The last time a fullback was picked in one of the first three rounds of the NFL draft was back in 2008, when the San Diego Chargers took Jacob Hester. But “Goose,” as his family calls him, has the ability — and the pedigree — to change that.
So when one reporter recently asked him whether he would be a good first-round pick for his favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles, Glenn wasn’t shy with his answer.
“You won’t be able to draft me at the end of the first round. Because I’ll already be taken,” Glenn said, per ESPN. “… Just kidding. If I’m there, yeah, definitely take me.”
Glenn, who redsirted in 2012, has played in every game for the Wildcats the past two seasons. He’s only caught 10 passes, but that’s OK. He spends most of his time blocking, and he’s gaining the reputation of being quite good at it.
The fullback position may be losing its luster, but that’s not stopping Goose from pursuing his NFL dream.
