The New England Patriots will open up another spot on their 90-man roster Monday.

The Patriots are releasing fullback Eric Kettani, according to a source. The roster move first was reported by ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

The Patriots had 89 players on their preseason roster going into Monday, and Kettani’s release will reduce that number to 88. The Patriots don’t need to trim their roster to 75 players until Sept. 1, so it’s likely they’ll re-fill their roster before Friday night’s preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

Kettani didn’t practice last week for the Patriots, and he didn’t suit up in Saturday’s preseason win over the New Orleans Saints.
