“That word is the scariest word in the world to me,” Jerry Remy explained.

NESN’s Boston Red Sox color commentator opened up with fellow NESN broadcaster Tom Caron during a one-on-one sitdown to discuss the cancer that both have battled.

For Caron, it was a struggle to bring people into the fold after his initial diagnosis. He wanted to battle it on his own and shield his loved ones. For Remy, it was just the opposite — without the support of his wife from Day 1, he says, he wouldn’t have gotten through.

But both had one thing in common: They were treated by the best doctors in the world at Dana-Farber.

The 2015 WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon will take place Aug. 18 and 19, and benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. You can donate and learn more here, or call toll free to donate at 877-738-1234.
