Tom Caron Talks Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon: ‘I Get It A Lot More This Year’

The WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon always has been an important event for Tom Caron, but this year’s will carry even greater meaning following the NESN host’s own battle with cancer earlier this year.

With the telethon set to kick off at 6 a.m. Tuesday — and continue through Wednesday — Caron recently joined Maine’s WJAB Radio to discuss his “brief glimpse” at the deadly disease and the work the Jimmy Fund is doing to combat it.

“I’m not trying to dishonor the people who have gone through much worse fights with cancer,” Caron said. “I didn’t get radiation. I didn’t get chemo. They removed it — it’s clean. They think if it comes back, they’ll be able to treat it real quickly and easily. But I did get that feeling of walking into the Dana-Farber as a patient, and that’s pretty scary.”
