Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell announced on Friday that he has Stage 1 lymphoma. As a result, Torey Lovullo will manage the team for the remainder of the 2015 season.
Lovullo and Farrell have a long-standing relationship, dating back to 1993. And before the Red Sox opened up a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners on Friday, Lovullo took some time to talk about his friend with NESN’s Tom Caron on “Friday Night Fenway.”
“From my standpoint absolutely, 100 percent,” Lovullo said of the Red Sox dedicating the rest of the season to Farrell. “And I think everyone else is going to feel the same way. Listening to Dustin (Pedroia) and David (Ortiz) talk, I think everybody is here for John and he’s in our prayers first and foremost.”
