WWE SummerSlam 2015 ended in controversy.

The Undertaker officially defeated Brock Lesnar via submission in the main event at Barclays Center. But replays show Lesnar probably should have emerged victorious in the WrestleMania 30 rematch.

The superstars beat the crap out of each other in front of an electric crowd in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Undertaker amazingly kicked out of three F5s, including one through an announce table, before the combatants traded submissions that ultimately resulted in a strange ending.

Lesnar put The Undertaker into his trademark submission move, the Kimura Lock, at which point ‘Taker tapped out. The referee didn’t see The Undertaker submit, but the timekeeper apparently did. The timekeeper rang the bell to end the match, which the referee quickly overruled.

Lesnar, thinking he had won the match, released the hold and stood over near the ropes as the referee berated the timekeeper. The Undertaker came up from behind Lesnar and delivered a low blow, which the referee didn’t see because he was too busy still screaming at the timekeeper.

The Undertaker turned the tables by putting Lesnar into his own trademark submission, Hell’s Gate. Lesnar never tapped out — he actually flipped off The Undertaker in defiance — but he passed out, prompting the referee to end the match and award The Undertaker the victory.

Lesnar’s advocate, Paul Heyman, obviously wasn’t too pleased about the highway robbery. Thus, he declared Lesnar the winner after going over and ringing the bell himself.

If you’ve enjoyed the feud between Lesnar and The Undertaker, you’re in luck, as all signs point toward there being a rubber match at some point after a wild finish to WWE’s second-biggest event.
