The site of Super Bowl 50 has a disgruntled fan base.
San Francisco 49ers fans are so unsatisfied with their experiences at Levi’s Stadium that they are starting to sell off their season tickets.
Tuan Le, a San Jose resident, told Chris Nguyen of KFSN-TV in Fresno, Calif., that going to games at thew new stadium isn’t all that fun fun.
“Half the stadium, we get beat up by the sun,” Le said. “So if you’re going to watch a game, you want to enjoy, drink a few beers. Here, you drink a few beers, and you get beat up, come home with sunburn, it’s just a bad experience.”
Le isn’t the only disgruntled fan. Preston Burnes, a San Francisco resident, also said there is nothing to enjoy about the venue, which cost an estimated $1.2 billion to build and opened just last season.
“Even if (the 49ers are)Â losing, what we still would be looking for is a fun game day experience, an opportunity to get together, to share a tailgate, to enjoy some football, and that hasn’t really been what we found this season, or even last season,” Burnes said.
It’s ironic that the 49ers changed their ticket policy going into this season. In previous years, they sent out hard copies of tickets to their season ticket holders. Now everything is electronic — tickets are emailed 72 hours before game day —Â which makes it harder for someone to sell.
Note to self: If you are going to attend a game in San Francisco — Super Bowl 50, perhaps? — be sure you do some research on what the stadium has to offer before going in blindly.
