Jets-Colts Odds: Andrew Luck’s Team Favored On ‘Monday Night Football’
The Indianapolis Colts will look to continue their dominance in recent “Monday Night Football” appearances when they wrap up the NFL Week 2 schedule by hosting the New York Jets as 7-point betting favorites at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Colts got their 2015 campaign off to a less-than-stellar start last weekend, dropping a 27-14 decision in their Week 1 visit to Buffalo, losing outright to the Bills as 1-point chalk.
It was a particularly tough day for running back Frank Gore and wide receiver Andre Johnson, who combined for just 55 yards of offense in their debut with the Colts, while quarterback Andrew Luck, who opened the season as the 3/1 favorite to earn MVP honors, threw two interceptions and was sacked twice in the loss.
While their straight-up defeat in Buffalo drops the team to 2-3 SU in its last five on the road, Indianapolis brings a strong record in recent home dates into Monday night’s Jets vs. Colts betting matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Colts ride a four-game SU home winning streak into their meeting with the Jets, 3-0-1 against the spread, and have dominated under the bright lights on “Monday Night Football,” going 7-1 SU in their last eight as home favorites, and 11-2 SU in their last 13 overall as favorites.
Conversely, New York has been a betting disappointment as a Monday night underdog, going 1-7 SU in its last eight, and is a poor 3-9 SU in its last 12 overall on the road, according to the OddsShark NFL Database.
But there are reasons for Jets fans to remain optimistic.
With their strong 31-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, easily covering as 3.5-point chalk, the Jets are undefeated ATS in their past four, going a respectable 3-1 SU after claiming victory in just one of their previous 12.
In their win over the Browns, the Jets also continued the solid defensive play that made them the No. 6-ranked defense in the NFL last season, holding Cleveland to just 102 total yards in the second half while forcing three turnovers.
New York also has produced results in recent clashes with Indy, going 3-1 SU in its last four meetings, including two outright wins as road underdogs, while holding the Colts to an average of just 17.5 points per game.
