Bill Belichick Gives Typical Answer To Question About Tom Brady’s Freedom

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick got good news Thursday, but he wasn’t going to let that affect how he goes about his business.

Belichick and the rest of the Patriots learned Thursday morning that quarterback Tom Brady had his four-game suspension lifted by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman. That means Brady will be eligible for the Sept. 10 opener versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In true Belichick fashion, however, the New England head coach was solely focused on his team’s final preseason game against the New York Giants.

“We’re just gonna keep preparing and doing what we’ve been doing,” Belichick told the 98.5 The Sports Hub pregame show ahead of the preseason finale. “It doesn’t really affect us (Thursday night against the Giants). We’re looking forward to coming out (Thursday) and competing against the Giants and getting another night of evaluation.”

Ignoring the noise and focusing on what happens in the locker room and the football field — and nothing else — has been a hallmark of Belichick’s Patriots tenure. The ongoing Brady saga was no different.

“We can’t control a lot of things that go on outside,” Belichick told The Sports Hub. “We just gotta do what we can do and that’s coming in and working hard to improve and try to get better and find a way to have a better team.”
