FOXBORO, Mass. — It was a historic day for two longtime New England Patriots.
Quarterback Tom Brady threw his 400th career touchdown pass, and kicker Stephen Gostkowski set a new NFL record for most consecutive extra points, ending Sunday’s 51-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars with 425.
Brady also tied former Patriots offensive tackle Bruce Armstrong for most games played in team history with 212.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick isn’t typically one to discuss individual accomplishments, but he praised Brady and Gostkowski on Sunday.
“That takes a lot of games, a lot of snaps to do that, and it’s certainly a tribute to both of them, the durability, longevity and obviously consistent production that both of them have had,” Belichick said. “So, I feel really fortunate to have coached and had guys like that on our team, and those two guys in particular, they had a good day, as they’ve had for many, many days in their career. I’m really fortunate to have those guys on this team.”
Brady completed 33 of 42 passes for 358 yards with two touchdowns Sunday. Gostkowski has yet to miss a field goal this season and went 3 for 3 on the afternoon. He also converted six extra points.
