BOSTON — It appears the Red Sox outfield is getting some rest.

Rusney Castillo is out of Friday’s series opener against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park, as he and fellow outfielders Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley Jr. have been seeing a lot of the field lately. Brock Holt will slot into Castillo’s place in left field and bat seventh behind Deven Marrero, who will start at third base while Pablo Sandoval recovers from pneumonia.

Sandy Leon will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Rich Hill will be on the mound, where he’s been dominant in his first two outings for the Red Sox. The left-hander one-hit the Tampa Bay Rays over seven innings in his first start on Sept. 13 and struck out 10 batters in each of his outings. The Orioles are batting a collective .245 against lefties this season.
