The Green Bay Packers will gun for their 11th consecutive straight-up home win when they play host to the Kansas City Chiefs on “Monday Night Football” as 7-point betting favorites at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Packers claimed their fourth consecutive regular-season victory last weekend when they topped Seattle 27-17, handing the Seahawks their first-ever loss by a double-digit margin with quarterback Russell Wilson at the helm and easily covering as 3 1/2-point chalk.
Green Bay’s against-the-spread win improved it to 5-1 in its last six overall heading into Monday night’s Chiefs vs. Packers betting matchup at Lambeau Field.
The NFC North leaders also continue their rise up the OddsShark NFL Power Rankings, entering the weekend at No. 2, trailing only the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.
The Chiefs have produced mixed results in the first two weeks of the NFL campaign, riding three first-half touchdown throws by quarterback Alex Smith to a 27-20 win over the Houston Texans in Week 1, covering as 1-point chalk, before melting down late in a sloppy 31-24 home loss to the Denver Broncos last weekend.
Despite its outright loss to Denver as a 3-point favorite, Kansas City has been a strong early season team of late, going 5-1 SU and 6-0 ATS in its past six road games in September.
The Chiefs wound down last season’s road schedule in brutal fashion, suffering SU and ATS losses in visits to Oakland, Arizona and Pittsburgh, which cost them a berth in the postseason. But win or lose, the Chiefs have been stingy on the road, surrendering just 19.4 points per game over their past nine road contests dating to the start of last season.
Low-scoring matchups have paid dividends for bettors playing UNDER the point total on the road, which is 6-3 in Kansas City’s past nine games.
Conversely, the OVER is a strong 7-3 during the Packers’ current 10-game home win streak, although the UNDER has prevailed in their last two.
The total is set at 49 points for Monday night’s contest, during which Green Bay will look to reverse a losing trend against the Chiefs at Lambeau, with Kansas City picking up SU and ATS wins in six of seven visits since 1989, according to the OddsShark NFL Database.
