BOSTON — David Ortiz appears no worse for wear.

The Boston Red Sox designated hitter will be in the lineup for Monday’s Labor Day contest against the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park. Ortiz left Sunday’s contest in the fifth inning — after hitting his 497th career homer in the first — with right calf tightness, but Red Sox manager Torey Lovullo said it was for precautionary reasons.

Third baseman Pablo Sandoval also will return to work, batting second in his first action since Sept. 2 after sitting out Boston’s weekend series with mid-back tightness.

Brock Holt will bat seventh and return to his post at second base after Josh Rutledge started there Sunday. Blake Swihart will hit behind him and catch for right-hander Rick Porcello, who has allowed just one run in 15 innings since coming off the disabled list.

The Jays will counter with left-hander Mark Buerhle, who has earned a win in four of his last five outings.
