It’s only Week 1.

It’s only Week 1.

It’s only Week 1.

OK, so there was a lot of sloppy football Sunday. Your fantasy team probably suffered. But it’s Week 1 (did you know?), so don’t panic … yet.

That said, there certainly were some surprisingly poor (and great!) performances that likely made or broke your weeks. Here’s a look at the studs and duds of fantasy football’s opening weekend.

STUDS
Tom Brady, Quarterback, New England Patriots:
He set a team record for consecutive completions, had just seven incompletions (most of which weren’t his fault), and scored more points than any other player — except for someone else on this list — to open the season.

Marcus Mariota, Quarterback, Tennessee Titans: What. A. Debut. Mariota tied the NFL record for the most passing touchdowns (four) in an NFL debut and did so in the first half of a 42-14 win. He had more touchdowns than incompletions (three). He and Brady were the only QBs to toss four TDs in Week 1. ‘Nuff said.

DeAndre Hopkins, Wide Receiver, Houston Texans: The only good thing to happen to the Texans was Hopkins. He caught nine passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns, plus a two-point conversion — good for a whopping 32 points in PPR leagues.

Keenan Allen, Wide Receiver, San Diego Chargers: Is Allen back? His 15-catch, 166-yard performance certainly makes it seem so. He scored 31 points in PPR leagues … without scoring a touchdown. Scary.

Matt Forte, Running Back, Chicago Bears: His 141 yards on the ground were the most of any running back through Sunday. He punched in a rushing TD, plus five catches for 25 yards. If you own Forte, his 27 points in PPR leagues probably won you your week.

Rob Gronkowski, Tight End, Patriots: You know the drill. Five catches, 94 yards, three monster touchdowns. Gronk was the best tight end this week.

Tyler Eifert, Tight End, Cincinnati Bengals: Eifert was the breakout star of the weekend. He hauled in nine catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns, coming in just behind Gronkowski with 31 points in PPR leagues.

Travis Kelce, Tight End, Kansas City Chiefs: Kelce was targeted six times and caught all of them for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Sounds like Alex Smith has a new favorite target.

DUDS
Peyton Manning, Quarterback, Denver Broncos: Peyton stunk, and there’s nothing else to say about it. He went just 24 of 40 for 175 yards with an interception. He scored just five points in standard leagues.

Eli Manning, Quarterback, New York Giants: Eli stunk too (193 yards, zero touchdowns) and only fared better than his older brother because he managed not to throw an interception (weird, we know).

Odell Beckham Jr., Wide Receiver, Giants: See Manning, Eli. OBJ hasn’t had this few catches (five) or receiving yards (44) since his third professional game last October in Dallas against the Cowboys.

Dez Bryant, Wide Receiver, Dallas Cowboys: Bryant left the game twice for health reasons, managing just five catches for 46 yards in between. We found out after the game that he broke a bone in his foot that requires surgery and could miss four to six weeks.

LeSean McCoy, Running Back, Buffalo Bills: Shady managed just 41 yards on 17 attempts, good for an underwhelming 2.4 yards per carry. Karlos Williams (six), Boobie Dixon (three) and Percy Harvin (one) all stole touches in the backfield. McCoy’s only “saving” grace (and we use that term lightly) came in PPR formats, where he had three catches for 46 yards.

Justin Forsett, Running Back, Baltimore Ravens: The downward spiral that ended 2014 continues. Forsett only gained 41 yards rushing and picked up four catches for just 13 yards receiving.

Greg Olsen, Tight End, Carolina Panthers: Olsen was only targeted three times, catching one pass for 11 yards. Yikes.
