Cynthia Brown is apparently a pretty good player for the Wilson (Va.) High School girls’ soccer team, so it’d make sense that she’d excel in her role as a kicker and punter for the football team.

But that’s not all she can do.

Brown certainly proved that Friday night in her team’s game against Deep Creek High School. Lined up in a punt formation, Wilson pulled out a little trickery, as Brown threw a pass to teammate Kevin Whitfield on a fake punt.

Whitfield did the rest, evading tacklers and sprinting down the field for a 52-yard touchdown.

“The guy coming in was really tall, and I knew I couldn’t throw over his head because I’m too short,” Brown said of her touchdown pass after the game, via HamptonRoads.com. “And I couldn’t lob it, so I threw it sideways to get it around him. I knew it was going to be short. But Kevin came back for the ball and made the play happen.”

According to the Virginia High School League, Brown’s toss was the first touchdown thrown by a girl in the league’s history.

Unfortunately for Brown and Co., the impressive touchdown was the only of the night for Wilson, which lost 14-6.
