The Boston College Eagles will attempt to end a five-game straight up losing streak against Florida State when they face the Seminoles on Friday as 7-point betting underdogs at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Eagles are coming off a pair of straight-up victories over the Maine Black Bears and Howard Bison to kick off the 2015 college football season, but face their biggest challenge of the season to date against the Seminoles, who sit at No. 9 in the AP Top 25, in their first ACC conference matchup of the season.

Overall, Boston College brings a recent 3-1 SU and 2-2 against the spread record into Friday night’s Seminoles vs. Eagles betting matchup at Alumni Stadium, but has struggled at times to reward sports bettors in home contests since the start of the 2014 college football season.

The Eagles were a solid 9-6 ATS overall during that stretch but just 5-5 ATS at home, and 2-2 ATS as home underdogs.

However, Boston College’s struggles at the sportsbooks pale in comparison to that of the Seminoles.

Florida State is a dismal 4-12 ATS during the same period, despite posting a 15-1 SU record, and have covered as road favorites in just two of their last seven games.

The Seminoles were forced to come from behind in their last visit to Boston College, with the Eagles jumping out to an early 17-3 lead before falling 48-34 as 24-point underdogs during Florida State’s perfect 2013 season.

More recently, the Eagles forced Florida State to battle for a 20-17 home victory in a visit to Tallahassee late last season, claiming the ATS win as 16.5-point underdogs and kicking off the Seminoles’ current 1-5 ATS run.

While the Seminoles struggle to cover diminished point spreads, the point total has also trended toward the UNDER, going 5-3 in their last eight overall, and 3-2 in their last five against the Eagles according to the OddsShark College Football Database.

In other ACC college football betting action, No. 14 Georgia Tech travels to South Bend, Ind., on Saturday to take on No. 8 Notre Dame as 2.5-point favorites, while the Miami Hurricanes play host to the Nebraska Cornhuskers as 3-point favorites, and the North Carolina Tar Heels welcome the Illinois Fighting Illini as 7-point chalk.
