Joey Votto lost his cool Wednesday night.

The Cincinnati Reds first baseman was ejected in the eighth inning for arguing balls and strikes. He immediately slammed his helmet to the ground and got right into the umpire’s face. Votto continued to yell at the umpire well after being ejected.

Reds manager Bryan Price came out of the dugout to defend his player and eventually was ejected as well.

It’s been a frustrating season for the Reds, who sit 30 1/2 games behind the first-place St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central division.

Votto, however, has played very well. He’s batting .316 with 27 home runs and 70 RBIs.
