Kam Chancellor blinked first.

Chancellor said Wednesday in a text message to Stephen A. Smith that he will end his holdout and return to the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN.com. The Seahawks safety missed all of training camp, the preseason and Seattle’s first two games of the regular season.

“Ima go help my teammates that are understanding of my position and the ones who aren’t,” Chancellor reportedly wrote in the text message. “God forgives all, why can’t i? Time to help us get back to the big dance. I can address business after the season. Me and Marshawn started a mission 2 years ago. I can’t let my Dawg down….Real talk.”

Chancellor’s holdout has been interesting, to say the least, as the 27-year-old has three years remaining on his contract. In that sense, it’s funny he mentioned forgiving the Seahawks. They might have played hardball amid Chancellor’s quest to land a new deal, but the holdout ultimately was his decision. Plus, it hurt his team, which sits at 0-2 after losing Sunday to the Green Bay Packers.

Chancellor, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, forfeited two game checks totaling $267,647 by sitting out Seattle’s first two regular-season games. It’s unclear whether the Seahawks will waive his fines for skipping training camp in exchange for him returning to the team.
