FOXBORO, Mass. — Keshawn Martin already is impressing New England Patriots coaches early in his tenure with the team.

The wide receiver, acquired from the Houston Texans in a trade earlier this month, was one of six Patriots players wearing black jerseys Wednesday, signifying he’s a practice player of the week. Martin was joined by cornerback Justin Coleman, safety Tavon Wilson and practice squad defensive tackle Khyri Thornton, tight end Asante Cleveland and linebacker Darius Fleming as the Patriots’ practice players of the week.

Martin and Coleman made their Patriots debuts last week in the team’s 51-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Martin caught three passes for 33 yards with a touchdown. Coleman served as the Patriots’ nickel cornerback, playing on the right side, opposite Malcolm Butler. Coleman allowed two catches on four targets for 57 yards.
