The New England Patriots cut four players after their final practice before their bye week.

The team released veteran linebacker Dekoda Watson from its 53-man roster Wednesday. The Patriots also cut three players from their practice squad: wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins, guard Chris Barker and defensive tackle Joe Vellano.

Watson signed with the Patriots on Sept. 16 after previously being with the team during training camp. The Patriots traded for linebacker Jon Bostic from the Chicago Bears on Tuesday.

Thompkins, who was with New England in 2013 and 2014, signed to the Patriots’ practice squad Sept. 6 after being cut by the Oakland Raiders. Barker and Vellano also spent time on the Patriots’ active roster in 2013 and 2014.

The Patriots now go into their bye week with one open spot on their 53-man roster and three vacancies on their practice squad.
