The New England Patriots continued their game of practice-squad musical chairs Tuesday.
The Patriots signed former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Alex Singleton to the practice squad, a source told NESN.com. The corresponding move isn’t known yet.
The 6-foot-2, 242-pound linebacker went undrafted out of Montana State this year. He was signed by Seahawks on May 8 and released Sept. 5.
Singleton ran a 4.65-second 40-yard dash at his pro day in March with a 7.13-second three-cone and a 4.25-second short shuttle. He also recorded a 31-inch vertical leap and 10-foot broad jump. He had nine tackles during the preseason for the Seahawks.
A player must be released from the Patriots’ practice squad to make room for Singleton. Wide receivers Nathan Palmer and Kenbrell Thompkins, tight end Asante Cleveland, offensive linemen Cameron Fleming, Chris Barker and Blaine Clausell, defensive lineman Jimmy Staten, linebackers Darius Fleming and Brandon King and cornerback Daxton Swanson still were on the Patriots’ practice squad as of 4 p.m. ET.
Singleton worked out for the Patriots along with safety Floyd Raven, ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported Tuesday.
UPDATE (11:03 a.m. ET):Â Offensive lineman Chris Barker was released to make room for Singleton, according to a source. Barker hadn’t practiced since being added to the practice squad as he recovers from a high ankle sprain. Barker could be back on the scout team when healthy.
