The returns on Ndamukong Suh’s huge contract have, so far, been pretty uninspiring.
The Miami Dolphins gave the All-Pro defensive tackle a $114 million deal in the offseason, but Suh has yet to show his worth through two games. The Dolphins have been average at best, and Suh hasn’t recorded a single sack.
And that’s not all. He also reportedly is causing some issues for the team, as The Miami Herald reported Monday that Suh at times ignored the defensive play call and did his own thing in Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“Suh, who for the second straight week was a nonfactor, strayed from (defensive coordinator) Kevin Coyle’s script,” the Herald’s Adam H. Beasley wrote.
“The Miami Herald has learned that Suh freelanced at times Sunday, creating confusion on the defense,” Beasley continued. “By taking matters into his own hands, the Dolphins’ $114 million man took a bad situation and made it worse.”
The Dolphins’ addition of Suh was a big reason for optimism entering the 2015 season, as Miami’s defense was expected to be one of the team’s strengths. Instead, the Dolphins have allowed 372.5 yards per game against two teams, the Jaguars and the Washington Redskins, that aren’t exactly known for their offensive prowess.
