One of the best professional wrestlers of all time might have seen his career end Sunday night.

Sting, who is 56 years old, was injured in the main event versus Seth Rollins at WWE’s “Night Of Champions” pay-per-view. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the injury is to Sting’s neck and is considered “significant.”

It’s believed the injury occurred when Rollins power-bombed Sting into one of the turnbuckles. However, Sting also took a huge bump earlier in the match when he was dropped through one of the announce tables.

The match actually was stopped for a moment as the ringside doctor checked on Sting. It ended shortly after, and you have to wonder whether the match’s scripted finish was moved up in order to get Sting out of harm’s way.
