Robert Lewandowski’s Five-Goal Explosion Shatters Bundesliga Records

Take a bow, Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski set several records Tuesday by scoring all five goals for Bayern Munich in its 5-1 Bundesliga (German first division) win over Wolfsburg. He entered the game as halftime substitute and proceeded to go where no player in Germany’s top flight had dared go in over a generation. He also did it faster than anyone had before: in just nine minutes.

Six of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga opponents haven’t reached the five-goal mark yet this season. If only they had Lewandowskis of their own.

It’s also worth noting Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals in one game for Real Madrid earlier this month. Ronaldo needed 81 minutes to do what Lewandowski did in one-ninth of the time.

Lewandowski stars for Bayern Munich and Poland’s national team, but here’s some perspective for followers of the NBA.
