Alessandro Florenzi deserves credit for even thinking of doing something like this, let alone pulling it off.
The AS Roma midfielder scored a stunning long-range goal against Barcelona in the first half of the teams’ UEFA Champions League opener Wednesday.
Florenzi was feet from the sideline and just inside the halfway line when he beat Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen with the boldest of shots in the 31st minute.
Florenzi’s goal, which ensured Roma’s 1-1 tie, might be the best one scored in the Champions League this season. Stay tuned between now and late May.
