Sam Travis had a heck of a season in the Boston Red Sox’s minor league system.
The 22-year-old first baseman split time between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland this season, accumulating a .309 batting average with nine home runs and 78 RBIs. He took a minute to chat with NESN’s Guerin Austin before Saturday’s contest between the Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles.
Despite a more-than-respectable season, Travis admitted he was disappointed in himself for giving too many at-bats away and constantly is thinking about what he could have done better.
It’s that type of attitude that got him here in the first place.
