Liverpool loaned 22-year-old defender Tiago Ilori to Aston Villa for the duration of the 2015-16 season. Read more about Ilori’s move to the Midlands.
Everton landed winger Aaron Lennon from Tottenham for a reported £4.5 million ($6.9 million). Lennon spent time on loan at Goodison Park last season.
2:45 p.m.: West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace has responded to the deadline-day developments relating to Berahino with a statement:
2:35 p.m.: Chelsea did sign Papy Djilobodji earlier in the day.
Djilobodji joins the Blues from French club Nantes for a reported fee of around £3 million ($4.6 million). The 26-year-old Senegalese defender arrives at Stamford Bridge with a reputation as a ball-winner.
2:10 p.m.: Leicester City clinched the signing of Nathan Dyer, who joines the Foxes on loan from Swansea City for the duration of the 2015-16 season.
1:20 p.m.: Chelsea tried, and failed, to acquire Paris Saint-Germain’s talented center back Marquinhos, but the French club refused to sell the Brazilian.
1 p.m.: The summer 2015 transfer window official is closed for English clubs, but our live coverage continues.
Let’s bring you up to speed on a few more deals, which already have been clompleted.
Everton paid Argentinian club River Plate £9.5 ($14.6 million) for Ramiro Funes Mori. The 24-year-old center back played 108 games for River Plate and has made one appearance to date for Argentina’s national team.
Aston Villa turned to Joleon Lescott in an attempt to bolster its back line in more ways than one.
Lescott, 33, leaves West Brom for a rival club.
12:55 p.m.: Chelsea signs Michael Hector from Reading on a five-year contract. The Blues then loan Hector back to his former club for the duration of the 2015-16 season. Chelsea reportedly paid £4 million ($6 million) for Hector.
12:45 p.m.: The transfer window closes in 15 minutes. Expect a lull in activity before the clubs announce last-minute deals in the hours to come.
12:30 p.m.: Manchester United has completed the signing of Anthony Marital from Monaco.

12:25 p.m.: American fullback DeAndre Yedlin, 22, will join Sunderland on loan from Tottenham. Yedlin will remain in the Premier League but play for a club with lesser ambition, and competition for places, than Tottenham.
12:15 p.m.: There’s a twist in the Berahino story. The West Brom striker just used Twitter to express the extent of his unhappiness with the club and chairman Jeremy Peace.
Noon: Tottenham has been chasing Saido Berahino all summer, but West Brom has rebuffed every offer for the young striker.
Tottenham made two deadline-day bids for Berahino. West Brom is standing firm.
Tottenham has another problem on its hands in the form of Emmanuel Adebayor, who wants to leave White Hart Lane but only if Spurs pay up his contract. Aston Villa is believed to be interested in the Togolese striker.
11:45 a.m.: West Ham also added Michail Antonio from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee. Antonio, 25, has played most of his career with Championship (second division) clubs, but West Ham will offer him a chance to prove himself at a higher level.
West Ham didn’t finish there. The Hammers signed Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea and Nikica Jelavic outright from Hull City. Both are expected to play regular games and add punch — Moses from the wings and Jelavic as a center forward — to West Ham’s attack.

11:25 a.m.: West Ham has signed Alex Song on a season-long loan from Barcelona for the second consecutive campaign.
Song was one of West Ham’s standout players last season. The Cameroonian played 28 league games and helped the Hammers finish 12th. West Ham has a new coach — Sam Allardyce is out and Slaven Bilic is in — but hopes Song can make the same impact.
11:05 a.m.: Let’s get into some moves that have happened.
Southampton has signed Virgil van Dijk from Celtic. The Saints paid £11.5 million ($17.6 million) for the Dutch center back.
Van Dijk, 24, makes the step up to the Premier League after starring for Celtic for the last two years. Celtic’s failure to reach the Champions League group stage seems to have prompted van Dijk’s decision to leave the Scottish giant for greener pastures to the south.
Tuesday, 11 a.m.: Welcome back to our coverage of transfer deadline day. The transfer window closes in two hours for English clubs. It already is shut for those in Spain, Germany, Italy and France.
We have learned so far on deadline day that De Gea’s Real Madrid move has collapsed.
Sky Sports and Balague explain why.
Monday, 8 p.m. ET: The only thing we know for sure about De Gea’s Real Madrid transfer is that higher powers will determine if he can leave Manchester United now, as he wants.
On that note, we’ll close for now and resume our transfer watch Tuesday.
6:30 p.m.: De Gea might have to defer his dream move because of an administrative issue.

5 p.m.: Anthony Martial, 19, is expected to become the most expensive teenager in history. Read more about the Monaco striker’s impending move to Manchester United.
3:50 p.m.: German club Wolfsburg has plenty of cash, given the resources of owner Volkswagen and its sale of star attacker Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City on Sunday.
Wolfsburg reinvested a chunk of the £54 million ($83 million) it received for De Bruyne on a pair of proven Bundesliga talents ahead of its return to the Champions League group stage. Wolfsburg signed Dante from Bayern Munich and Julian Draxler from Schalke on Monday.
Dante, 31, seeks increased playing time after falling out of Bayern Munich’s starting lineup.
Draxler joins Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee, but the transfer is believed to be a whopper.
Draxler, 21, previously has been linked with Arsenal and Juventus. Many have billed Draxler as one of Germany’s top young talents, but injuries and instability at Schalke have slowed his progress. Draxler probably is the closest player Wolfsburg can find as a like-for-like replacement for De Bruyne.
3 p.m.: There’s some movement on the De Gea transfer.
Sources in England and Costa Rica report Real Madrid’s starter of the moment, Keylor Navas, will move to Manchester United to facilitate De Gea’s transfer.
2:45 p.m.: Another Manchester United player exits the club and heads to Germany, but this move’s temporary.
Adnan Januzaj, 20, has joined Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan.
Januzaj’s breakthrough from Manchester United’s academy to its first team was one of the few bright spots of David Moyes’ tenure as Manchester United coach in 2013-14, but Januzaj’s progression has stalled under Moyes’ successor, Louis van Gaal.
Januzaj’s move to Dortmund has caught many off guard, given his age, pedigree and recent appearances in Manchester United’s starting lineup.
The teams appear to have agreed to the Januzaj loan for sporting, rather than business, reasons. Januzaj should expect to return to Old Trafford next summer and fight for playing time.
2:30 p.m.: Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez didn’t stay with Manchester United after all.
Manchester United sold Chicharito to German club Bayer Leverkusen, ending his five-year Old Trafford career that started with so much promise but ultimately petered out.
Chicharito likely will receive the playing time he craves at Leverkusen, which will compete in Germany’s Bundesliga (first division), the DFB-Pokal (German cup) and the UEFA Champions League.
2:20 p.m.: Liverpool has sold Fabio Borini to Sunderland in a transfer reportedly worth up to £10 million ($15 million). Read more about the Italian striker’s departure from Anfield.
Monday, 1 p.m. ET: There’s little chance David de Gea will spend the season in the stands at Old Trafford watching Manchester United play.
Manchester United and Real Madrid are in advanced negotiations over a transfer, which would take de Gea from the English to the Spanish soccer giant. Real Madrid will pay Manchester United €35 million (£26 million/$40 million) to release De Gea from the last year of his contract and sign the 24-year-old goalkeeper as its presumed new No. 1. ESPN reported Monday the teams have agreed to the fee. Sky Sports reported the teams have yet to strike a deal.
Such is the madness of transfer deadline day.
De Gea’s seemingly impending transfer is chief among a host of deals around European soccer that are expected to take place before Wednesday. The summer transfer window closes Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET for cash-rich Premier League clubs, who are expected to engage in a flurry of last-minute wheeling and dealing. The window closes for other major European leagues within a day of the close of the English window, so many top clubs on the continent also are expected to conduct some last-minute business.
The clock is ticking.
