Boston Red Sox interim manager Torey Lovullo raised a few eyebrows Tuesday night when talking about the team’s outfield.
Though Mookie Betts has been the Red Sox’s everyday center fielder this season and Rusney Castillo has played almost exclusively in right field, Lovullo said no decisions have been set in stone on where Betts, Castillo and Jackie Bradley Jr. will play in the future.
Bradley is hands-down the best defensive outfielder in baseball, so center field would seem like a natural fit. But his cannon of a throwing arm lends itself better to a corner position, especially in Fenway Park’s spacious right field.
So where should the trio play? NESN’s Tom Caron, Steve Lyons and Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley debate the issue. Check that out, along with Lovullo’s comments, in the video above.
