Ben Roethlisberger Won’t Rule Out Week 7 Return: I’ll ‘See What I Can Do’

The Pittsburgh Steelers (and fantasy owners) might be able to breathe a sigh of relief come Sunday.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said there’s a possibility he could play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs if all goes well in practice. Roethlisberger hasn’t played since Week 3, when he suffered a sprained MCL and a bone bruise in his left knee.

?We?re going to tape it and brace it, and I?m going to see what I can do,? Roethlisberger said after the Steelers’ 25-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. ?My plan is to go out Wednesday and practice. We?ll see what happens. I know I?ve got to be smart about it. I?ve got to be able to defend myself. We?re just going to take it day by day.?

But before you get too optimistic, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if the Steelers waited another week to make sure Big Ben is 100 percent, especially after backup Landry Jones’ performance Sunday. Jones took the reins in the third quarter after Mike Vick went down with a hamstring injury and ended up racking up 168 yards with two touchdowns to Martavis Bryant on 8-of-12 passing.
