Jurgen Klopp arrived in Liverpool with a touch of Beatlemania, as fans of the Reds greeted their new manager with a level of excitement not seen in ages.

Klopp’s former team, Borussia Dortmund, predicted he’d receive such a reception.

Borussia Dortmund on Thursday wished Klopp good luck at Liverpool with a witty Beatles-themed message on Twitter. The German club combined an image of Klopp with the Beatles’ “Abbey Road” album cover.

Klopp, 48, spent seven mostly glorious seasons as Dortmund’s head coach before stepping down in May. Klopp then spent four months on sabbatical before Liverpool convinced him to take charge of the Premier League club Thursday.

Klopp hasn’t won a game as Liverpool’s boss, nor has he released a hit record (that we know of), but he certainly comes with a splash that far exceeds what most “Normal Ones,” as he comically described himself Friday, could expect.

Kudos to Dortmund for playing such a well-timed note … only one day before what would have been John Lennon’s 75th birthday.
