Jurgen Klopp will bring a lot to the table at Liverpool or any other club he happens to manage in the future.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke emphatically endorsed Klopp’s managerial credentials Tuesday in an interview with Sky Sports. Watzke said Klopp, the leading candidate for the Liverpool manager vacancy, has what it takes to succeed at any club in world soccer.

“He is not only a very good manager, he’s a friend of mine, and he’s very, very honest and very sympathetic,” Watzke said. “He is a very good coach because he has a good mentality for it.

“He has a good style of playing football, and I don’t know if he goes to Liverpool or to another club, but the club who gets him gets a very good manager.”

Watzke appointed Klopp as Dortmund’s head coach in 2008. Watzke saw firsthand how Klopp combined his man-management skills with his eye for the big picture in order to push Dortmund out of its doldrums back to prominence in Germany and Europe.

“Every player he has in his hands, he makes them better, you can be sure,” Watzke said. “It is wonderful to work with him because he has a big understanding of the problems of the club.

“He brings a warm feeling to the whole club, and in seven years at Borussia Dortmund, it was wonderful.”

Klopp, 48, currently is in talks with Liverpool about replacing Brendan Rodgers as manager. Anfield chiefs could appoint the German tactician in a matter of days.

Like many, Watzke will sit back and watch Klopp attempt to work another magic act at one of soccer’s biggest clubs.
