Brandon Marshall: Chris Ivory Is ‘Best Running Back’ In NFL Right Now

New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall has no doubt teammate Chris Ivory is the best running back in the NFL.

Marshall said just that in speaking with the New York Post’s Steve Serby, framing it not as an opinion but as a flat-out fact.

“He’s already the best running back in the league right now,” Marshall said. “Just watch the tape — speed, quickness, agility, vision, endurance — he has it all.

“He runs really violently, he has great feet, great vision. … He’s humble … and he doesn’t even know how good he can be, and that’s the scary part.”

Some of Ivory’s teammates, not to mention observers across the league, are comparing him favorably to Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.

“It’s funny, I asked (former Seahawks offensive lineman James) Carpenter about that,” Jets linebacker Trevor Reilly told the Post. “He said Marshawn, in the hole, he’ll try to make you miss. He said Chris, he likes to run everybody over. Chris has got good feet, he can make you miss, but it’s almost like he relishes going through people.”

So far this season, Ivory has proven to be the workhorse the Jets need, with 63 carries for 314 yards and three touchdowns in four games. You can’t ignore the fact that he’s also averaging 5 yards per carry.

We will see how Ivory fares this Sunday when the Jets host the Washington Redskins, who boast a solid rush defense led by Terrance Knighton and Ryan Kerrigan.
