Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward has played poorly over the last couple of seasons, but he’s capable of producing occasional moments of greatness.

One of those moments occurred Wednesday night during the Hurricanes’ road game against the Colorado Avalanche.

The former Conn Smythe Trophy winner showed remarkable agility to move to his right and rob Avalanche center Matt Duchene of an almost-certain goal by getting his stick on the puck and deflecting it away.

It’s still early in the 2015-16 NHL season as most teams haven’t played more than six or seven games, but it wouldn’t be surprising if this save ranks among the best of the campaign when April rolls around.
